Uproar in Assembly Over Randhawa’s Remarks on Kashmiris | Kashmir Life

SRINAGAR: Tensions erupted in the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday following BJP MLA Vikram Randhawa’s remarks alleging that Kashmiris had encroached land in Jammu.

Immediately after Question Hour, Congress MLAs Irfan Hafiz Lone and Iftikhar Ahmad demanded an apology from Randhawa.

“Chor Machaye Shor, Chor Machaye Shor, Kashmiri Ko Badnam Karna Band Karo,” shouted Irfan Hafiz Lone.

Iftikhar Ahmad accused the BJP of defaming Kashmiris, saying, “First they maligned the Pir Panchal region, now they are maligning the people of Kashmir.”

MLA Langate Sheikh Khursheed added that the member who accused Kashmiris of being land grabbers was himself involved in land grabbing.

BJP MLA Vikram Randhawa then responded to the Congress MLAs and Khursheed, while NC members joined to counter the BJP, resulting in heated exchanges on the Assembly floor.
