
SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday extended greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri, celebrated as ‘Herath’ by the Kashmiri Pandit community.
In his message, the Lieutenant Governor described the festival as a symbol of spiritual tradition and communal harmony, saying it reminds citizens of the universal service and responsibilities exemplified by Lord Shiva. “I pray for the health, happiness, and prosperity of every citizen. May Lord Shiva continue to shower his divine blessings upon us and strengthen the bonds of brotherhood for years to come. Har Har Mahadev!” he said.
The Chief Minister conveyed that Mahashivratri symbolises devotion, faith and spiritual awakening, inspiring people to follow the path of righteousness, harmony and compassion. “May this sacred occasion bring peace, happiness and prosperity to every household,” he added, emphasising unity, communal harmony and progress in the region.
Both leaders called on citizens to celebrate the festival with devotion and uphold the values of brotherhood and social cohesion.
