Army Chief reviews operational preparedness along LoC in Poonch, Rajouri

Poonch, Feb 7: Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi on Saturday reviewed the operational preparedness and security arrangements of Indian Army formations deployed along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir, and lauded the troops for maintaining high standards of professionalism and readiness in challenging terrain.

He interacted with troops of Indian Army deployed on the LoC in Poonch sector of JK’s Poonch district.

General Upendra Dwivedi, who is presently on visit of Jammu and Kashmir, arrived for a high level security review visit in twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch.

In Poonch sector, Indian Army stated, the COAS General Upendra Dwivedi visited the forward LoC areas of sector in order to review the operational preparedness.

During his visit, army said, COAS assessed deployment posture as well as surveillance measures and security arrangements been put in place.

Alongside it, he also reviewed the overall readiness of formations deployed in the sector.

The security arrangements on the Line of Control (LoC) in twin border districts Rajouri and Poonch are already on fool proof mode after Operation Sindoor. However, the recent drone intrusions from Pakistani side has raised security concerns in the area.

” He also commended their unwavering dedication and exceptional state of preparedness.” Army said.

The COAS was accompanied by Army Commander Northern Command, Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, General Officer Commanding White Knight Corps, Lt Gen PK Mishra while General Officer Commanding Ace of Spades Division, Maj Gen Kaushik Mukherji briefed the COAS about overall security situation on LoC in Rajouri and Poonch areas falling under the Area of Responsibility of Ace of Spades Division.

Later, COAS also visited Rajouri district and conducted security review and chaired a meeting at Counter Insurgency Force (CIF) Romeo headquarters.
