SRINAGAR: Chief Education Officer (CEO) Rajouri, Mohd Hafiz, conducted a surprise inspection of several government schools within the municipal limits of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday and took strict disciplinary action against staff found negligent in their duties, according to the Daily Excelsior report.
During the visit, the CEO inspected Government High School (GHS) Jawahar Nagar, PM Shri Boys Middle School (BMS) Jawahar Nagar, and Middle School (MS) Ward Number 8. The inspection revealed serious irregularities, particularly concerning staff attendance during school hours and non-compliance with departmental norms, raising concerns over the effective delivery of education.
Taking immediate action, Mohd Hafiz ordered the suspension of three teachers at MS Ward Number 8, whose whereabouts were unaccounted for during working hours. Other defaulting staff were directed to submit written explanations within two days addressing the observed lapses.
Expressing concern over staff remaining absent or on leave without proper authorization, the CEO told Daily Excelsior that such negligence adversely affects the functioning of schools and compromises students’ academic interests. He stressed that attendance, punctuality, and accountability are mandatory and warned that no leniency would be shown in cases of indiscipline.
Mohd Hafiz also called for improved academic performance and classroom engagement, instructing school heads to closely monitor teaching staff and ensure adherence to the prescribed timetable. He reiterated the Education Department’s zero-tolerance policy, cautioning that further lapses would result in strict action under relevant rules and regulations.
