Jammu, Feb 2: Leader of Opposition in J&K Legislature Sunil Sharma on Monday stated that the “document of J&K government” presented by the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha was “very disappointing” as it did not meet the aspirations of any section of the society.
Sharma was reacting to media queries, outside the J&K Legislature, about the address by the Lieutenant Governor on the opening day of the J&K budget session.
The customary address is the account of the government’s performance highlighting its achievements and spelling out its road-map for the future.
“We were happy only to the extent where it (address) lauded the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government’s vision which found reflection in all the central schemes mentioned in the document (LG’s address). But, otherwise, it was very disappointing for every section, particularly for the unemployed youth, who had pinned great hopes on it, given the haughty claims of the government. But sadly, there was no vision, no road map in the document (address) spelling out how the government would tackle the problem of unemployment. Similarly, it remained disappointing for the women and old people too,” LoP said.
He claimed that the document (LG’s address) only mentioned central government schemes.
“I was surprised to see that the Chief Minister’s commitment of free 200 units of power was, shown in the document, totally dependent on PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. What happened to the Chief Minister’s promises of free 200 units of power, 12 cylinders and one lakh jobs? All those haughty claims have proved to be a hoax.” LoP alleged.
With regard to questions about his support to the students demonstrating in support of their demand for establishment of National Law University in Jammu, Sunil Sharma said that the BJP was advocating for establishing two NLUs in J&K – one for Jammu and the other for Kashmir.
“We will raise this demand in the House as well,” he stated.
