
Srinagar: The auspicious night of Shab-e-Barat will be observed with religious fervour at Jama Masjid Srinagar on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, corresponding to the 15th of Sha’ban, 1447 AH.
Extending greetings on the occasion, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq urged the Muslim Ummah, particularly the people of Jammu and Kashmir, to dedicate the blessed night to introspection, sincere repentance (Tawba), seeking forgiveness (Istighfar), and strengthening their spiritual bond with Almighty Allah. He called for special prayers for peace, guidance and the collective well-being of society.
Meanwhile, Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid Srinagar said the observance will follow traditional reverence at the historic mosque. After Maghrib prayers at 7:30 pm, the Mirwaiz will deliver a sermon on the significance and virtues of Shab-e-Barat, followed by a collective session of Tawba and Istighfar. The Isha prayer will be offered at 9:00 pm.
The general public has been urged to participate in large numbers and benefit spiritually from the observance.
