SRINAGAR: The Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K) has extended the winter vacation for students in view of ongoing adverse weather conditions and heavy snowfall across the region.
An official memorandum issued by the university administration stated that the winter break, originally scheduled under University Order No. 25 (Acad.) of 2025 dated December 18, 2025, will now continue until February 9, 2026.
The extension has been granted considering the severe weather and its impact on regular academic activities. The university confirmed that all instructions issued in the previous order will remain in force during the extended vacation period.
The memorandum, approved by the competent authority, has been circulated to all university officers, heads of divisions, stations, Krishi Vigyan Kendras, and other constituent units of SKUAST-K for information and compliance.
University officials said the move aims to prioritise student safety amid continued snowfall and weather-related disruptions in various parts of Kashmir.
Further instructions regarding the resumption of academic activities will be issued depending on improvements in weather conditions.
