J&K Govt names 9 outstanding sportspersons

Srinagar, Jan 26: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has announced Republic Day Awards 2026 for nine outstanding sportspersons in recognition of their exceptional achievements and contribution to sports.

As per government order, the awards have been sanctioned under the category Award for Outstanding Sports Persons. Each award carries a cash prize of Rs 51,000 and a citation.

The awardees include Aquib Nabi Dar and Brijesh Sharma (Cricket), Rakesh Singh (Deaf Judo), Vishal Khajuria (Judo), Saleem Kumar (Wushu), Ravees Ahmad (Pencak Silat), Sudip Khanna (Gymnastics), Mohammad Iqbal (Athlete/Coach), and Aiyza Naz Chib (Skating).

The award ceremony will be held today on Republic Day 2026, where the achievers will be felicitated for bringing laurels to the Union Territory and inspiring the next generation of athletes.
