Crime Branch EOW Jammu registers 17 FIRs in fraud, forgery cases

Jammu, Jan 24: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch Jammu has registered 17 FIRs in cases involving fraud, cheating, impersonation, forgery and misuse of official position by government officials, following verification of complaints received from aggrieved persons, officials said on Friday.

The FIRs, as per an official statement were registered following written complaints received from complainants. After thorough assessment on factual and legal grounds, the allegations were found to involve serious offences including fraud, impersonation, forgery, criminal conspiracy and abuse of official authority.

The complaints pertain to a wide range of fraudulent activities, including irregular issuance of Permanent Resident Certificates (PRCs), bank loan frauds using forged KYC documents, cheating by promising to provide government jobs and issuance of fake appointment letters.

The allegations also include misuse of official position by public servants, tampering with public records, revenue matters, illegal financial gains, threats to complainants and causing wrongful losses to the Government exchequer and financial institutions.

Mohd Fiesel Qureshi-JKPS, Sr. Superintendent of Police Crime Branch EOW Jammu reaffirming his commitment to safeguard public trust advised citizens to remain vigilant and promptly report economic offences to Crime Branch (EOW) Jammu.
