SRINAGAR: A Pakistani Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militant was neutralised in a joint operation by security forces in the general area of Billawar in Kathua district on Friday.
Official sources said that acting on specific intelligence inputs, a small team of Jammu and Kashmir Police, in coordination with the Army and the Central Reserve Police Force, launched a targeted operation in the area. During the operation, the militant, who was moving alone with his weapon, was engaged and eliminated.
Sources said one militant has been neutralised and an M4 rifle has been recovered from the site of the encounter. The slain militant was reportedly roaming alone in the area, carrying the weapon.
Meanwhile, security forces have intensified search operations in and around the area to rule out the presence of any other militants. (KNC)
