
Rajouri, Jan 19: In a shocking and disturbing incident that has sent shockwaves across Rajouri district, a woman was found stuffed inside a large plastic bag in the Tandwal area on Saturday evening, triggering panic and concern.
According to official sources, the incident came to light at around 6:50 pm when locals noticed a suspicious plastic bag lying in the area and immediately alerted the police.
Upon receiving the information, a police team rushed to the spot and opened the bag, only to find a woman in a critical condition.
The woman has been identified as Azeem Akhtar, aged about 45–46 years, wife of Sabar Hussain, a resident of Kakora, Manjakote, and presently residing in Ward No. 9, Rajouri.
She had allegedly been packed inside the plastic bag, locally known as a bora, with her hands tightly tied using a rope.
After being rescued, the woman was immediately shifted to the Associated Hospital and Government Medical College (GMC), Kheora, Rajouri, for urgent medical treatment, said police.
Medical authorities said that she is undergoing treatment and remains under close observation, adding that her condition continues to be serious.
Police on the other hand said that it has initiated a detailed investigation to ascertain the circumstances under which the woman was tied, packed inside a bag, and abandoned in the area.
Statements of witnesses are being recorded, and investigators are examining all possible angles related to the case, sources said.
