Srinagar Doctor Seeks Government Intervention to Airlift Critically Ill Wife from Mecca – Alfaaz – The Words

Srinagar: A Srinagar-based dental surgeon, Dr. Rouf Jeelani, has appealed to the government for urgent assistance to facilitate the medical evacuation of his critically ill wife from Mecca, Saudi Arabia, to Srinagar for continued treatment.

Dr. Jeelani had traveled to Saudi Arabia along with his wife to perform Umrah when she suffered a sudden stroke during their stay in Mecca. She was immediately shifted to a local hospital, where she remains admitted in critical condition. Medical experts treating her have reportedly cautioned that her recovery could be prolonged, potentially stretching over several months to a year.

With the family struggling in a foreign country amid mounting medical and logistical challenges, Dr. Jeelani has sought the intervention of Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. He has urged them to take up the matter with the Union Ministry of External Affairs to enable her medical evacuation and airlift to Srinagar.

In a recorded appeal, the distressed doctor described the crisis as the most difficult phase of his life, citing helplessness and emotional strain while managing the situation away from home support.

“I request the authorities and kind-hearted people to help me bring my wife back to Srinagar for proper medical care. I am facing the worst situation of my life,” he said.

Relatives, friends, and well-wishers have also urged the government to intervene on humanitarian grounds, stressing that timely assistance could prove critical to securing her safe transfer.

The family remains hopeful that the administration and concerned authorities will respond swiftly, given the gravity and urgency of the case.
