Lolab (Kupwara): On the directions of Sub Divisional Magistrate Lolab, Mir Mudasir Ahmad, the Food & Civil Supplies Department, in coordination with the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Revenue Department, conducted a joint market inspection drive in various markets of the Lalpora sub division to ensure compliance with government regulations and protect consumer interests.
The drive was carried out in the presence of Tehsil Supply Officer Sogam, Gulzar Ahmad Wani. The inspection team checked markets for overpricing, hoarding, black marketing, proper display of rate lists, use of electronic weighing machines, and the quality of essential commodities.
Shopkeepers were instructed to strictly adhere to prescribed rates and legal norms. Officials cautioned traders against unfair trade practices and warned of strict action against violators. In some cases, minor discrepancies were noticed and concerned shopkeepers were directed to rectify them immediately.
SDM Lolab Mir Mudasir Ahmad said that such joint inspection drives would continue on a regular basis to ensure transparency in market operations and prevent exploitation of consumers. He also appealed to traders to follow rules in letter and spirit and urged the public to cooperate with the administration by reporting irregularities.
Local residents welcomed the initiative and appreciated the coordinated efforts of the Food and Civil Supplies, Police and Revenue Departments to ensure fair trade practices and consumer protection.
