SRINAGAR: On January 14, Jammu and Kashmir announced the annual Class 10 results for the 2024–25 session, with Sopore’s Kamran Ferooz emerging as one of just 19 students across Kashmir to score a perfect 500 marks. Kamran, a student of Sanctorum Public School, credited his success to the Almighty.

Speaking to Kashmir Life, he described the honour of achieving full marks and reflected on the pressures students face on result day. “Many lose their calm, which can lead to problems,” he said, urging parents not to compare their children with others.

Looking ahead, Kamran plans to pursue the medical stream and hopes to secure admission to AIIMS Delhi. However, he stressed that marks alone do not determine a student’s future. “Students today focus too much on marks rather than knowledge, which affects the quality of education,” he said, highlighting the importance of acquiring practical skills alongside formal studies.

He credited proper teaching, a relaxed syllabus, and strong support from his teachers for helping him succeed despite a shortened academic session. Kamran also commented on societal pressures, noting that orthodox expectations often push students to chase high marks for the sake of relatives. “I would urge all candidates to stay calm and not put themselves under pressure,” he said.

Kamran emphasised that his success was the result of consistent study habits, clarifying that consistency does not mean studying for long hours each day. “You don’t need to study for five hours daily; what matters is studying regularly,” he explained. He credited the Almighty first, followed by the unwavering support of his parents and relatives, for his remarkable achievement.

The results of the annual Class 10 examination recorded an overall pass percentage of 85.03 per cent. According to official data released by JKBOSE, a total of 94,845 students—47,736 boys and 47,109 girls appeared for the examination. Of these, 80,650 candidates, including 40,242 boys and 40,408 girls, successfully passed the exam.
