Srinagar, Jan 12: Officials of the Food Safety Department, Jammu and Kashmir, on Monday busted a fake honey and desi ghee manufacturing module in Srinagar, where adulterated products were allegedly being sold as home-made.

Acting on specific inputs, teams of food safety officials conducted raids at multiple locations in the Barthana and Qamarwari areas of the city. During the inspections, officials recovered large quantities of hydrogenated oil, which was being used to prepare a mixture sold as desi ghee. Sugar used to manufacture a mixture marketed as local honey was also seized.

Officials said the adulterated products were being supplied locally, posing a serious risk to public health. Samples have been collected for laboratory analysis, and further legal action will be initiated under the Food Safety and Standards Act.
