Srinagar, Jan 11: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday organised a workers’ meeting at Aloochi Bagh in Srinagar to strengthen the party at the grassroots level and reaffirm its political vision for Jammu and Kashmir.

The meeting was chaired by ex MLA Batmaloo Noor Muhammad Sheikh, Spokespersons Zuhaib Mir, Syed Tajamul, senior leader and former State Secretary Arif Laigroo, Zone President Ali Muhammad Baba.

The meeting was organised by Adil Rather, along with a large number of party workers from the area. Addressing the gathering, Sheikh said that J&K was passing through a difficult phase marked by political uncertainty, unemployment, and economic hardship. “PDP has always stood with the people during the toughest times, and our commitment to protecting their rights and dignity remains unwavering,” he said. Zuhaib Yousuf Mir expressed concern over the shrinking democratic space and the growing sense of alienation, particularly among the youth. He said, “PDP’s politics, rooted in dialogue, reconciliation, and democratic engagement, offers the only credible path to rebuilding trust and ensuring a peaceful and stable future for Jammu and Kashmir.”

Senior leader Syed Tajamul said that the vision of the late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was based on healing, dignity, and inclusive politics. “Under the leadership of PDP President Mehbooba Mufti, the party continues to uphold that legacy and remains firmly committed to addressing the genuine aspirations of the people,” he added. Speaking on the occasion, senior leader Arif Laigroo emphasised the importance of strengthening the party at the grassroots level. “Our strength lies in our workers. We must remain closely connected with the people, listen to their grievances, and raise their voices fearlessly. PDP will continue to be a platform that stands for justice, peace, and democratic empowerment,” he said.
