Social Audit of ICDS Poshan Centres Held in Lolab – Alfaaz – The Words

Kupwara: A social audit of Integrated Child Development Services Poshan Project centres was conducted across several panchayats of Lolab in Kupwara district as part of a district wide monitoring drive. The exercise is being carried out on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse.

The audit covered ICDS Poshan centres located in the panchayat halqas of Wani Doursa, Walkul, and Gundimacher. Tehsil Supply Officers from different tehsils participated in the process.

The inspection was led by Audit Officer TSWO Kupwara, Javid Ahmad Malik, along with ICDS Poshan Project Supervisor Dr Jahangir Ahmed. The team conducted on site verification of services and records maintained at the centres.

Officials said the audit focused on the distribution of supplementary nutrition, verification of attendance registers, assessment of infrastructure, scrutiny of official records, and review of benefits provided under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana. The objective was to ensure transparency, accountability, and adherence to prescribed guidelines under the ICDS framework.

During the visits, audit teams interacted with beneficiaries and local residents to assess the quality and reach of services at the ground level. Officials said feedback gathered during these interactions will be used to address gaps and improve service delivery.

The district administration said the Deputy Commissioner has directed strict monitoring and regular social audits to ensure welfare schemes reach all eligible beneficiaries without delay or exclusion. Similar audits will be conducted in other areas of the district in the coming days to strengthen oversight and improve implementation of child and maternal welfare programmes.
