Light to Moderate Snowfall Expected in Kashmir, Says Sonam Lotus | Kashmir Life

SRINAGAR: Several parts of Kashmir and Ladakh are likely to witness light to moderate snowfall during the New Year period, with weather conditions favouring snow between December 31, 2025 and January 1, 2026.

Meteorologist Sonam Lotus said that areas including Drass in Ladakh, Gulmarg, Doodhpathri and Sonamarg in Kashmir are expected to receive light to moderate snowfall, estimated at around four to five inches. He clarified that the system is not expected to bring heavy snowfall.

The forecast indicates that snowfall activity will remain moderate in intensity, offering favourable conditions for winter tourism without major disruption. Popular tourist destinations in both Kashmir and Ladakh are likely to experience fresh snow, which could enhance seasonal travel during the New Year celebrations.
