SRINAGAR: Helicopter services for pilgrims visiting the Shiv Khori shrine will commence shortly, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha announced, saying that the required infrastructure is nearing completion.

Addressing the 11th Convocation Ceremony of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University at Katra, the Lieutenant Governor said construction of helipads at both Katra and Shiv Khori is almost complete, removing the major obstacles to the launch of the long-awaited service.

He said the proposed helicopter connectivity would significantly ease access to the shrine, particularly for senior citizens and persons with disabilities, by reducing the physical strain of the journey.

Officials said the service is expected to enhance pilgrimage facilities in the region and improve overall connectivity to the revered shrine once operations formally begin.
