Man Accused of Assaulting ‘Father’ in North Kashmir Detained – Alfaaz – The Words

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police in have registered a case and detained an accused after a video showing an elderly man, reportedly his father, being assaulted went viral on social media, officials said on Thursday.

The video, circulated widely earlier in the day, allegedly shows a man assaulting the elderly individual in Tangmarg, Baramulla. Police said they took cognisance of the matter after the clip drew public attention on social media platforms.

According to officials, preliminary findings indicate that the video is not recent and relates to a past dispute involving the family and their neighbours. Despite this, police said immediate action was initiated in view of the seriousness of the visuals and public concern.

An FIR has been registered at Police Station Tangmarg under relevant provisions of law. The accused has been taken into custody for questioning. Officials said further investigation is underway to establish all facts and circumstances surrounding the incident.
