High alert sounded along Jammu-Punjab border

Jammu, Dec 25: Security forces have sounded a high alert along the Jammu–Punjab border and intensified search operations and verification drives across border areas to strengthen area domination and ensure thorough sanitisation along the Indo-Pakistan International Border amid heightened security concerns.

As part of these measures, Border Security Force (BSF) troops with assistance of J&K Police as well as Punjab Police is carrying out regular and massive searches in border villages.

On Thursday, BSF troops in coordination with Kathua Police (Border Police Post), conducted a joint search operation in the depth areas of village Hande Chak in Marheen tehsil of Kathua district.

This joint operation like other similar regular operations are aimed at reinforcing border security and enhancing operational synergy between the forces to effectively counter any potential threats.

In a parallel move, Jammu and Kashmir Police has launched a large-scale verification drive along the Samba sector of the International Border in view of terror threat alerts.

During the drive, migrant workers are being thoroughly verified, with checks of identity documents, mobile phone content and personal belongings to prevent any possible misuse or cross-border infiltration attempts.

Officials said that similar search and verification operations are underway across sensitive stretches of the International Border from Jammu to Punjab, forming part of an integrated security strategy.

Security agencies have reiterated that strict vigilance will continue to maintain peace and ensure the safety of border residents.
