SRINAGAR: A residential house was completely gutted in an early morning fire incident at Kalashpora area of Srinagar on Wednesday, officials said.
Fire tenders were immediately rushed to the spot, while additional units were deployed owing to the congested nature of the locality. Officials said the blaze had engulfed a triple-storey residential-cum-commercial building.
However, swift fire-fighting operations ensured that the fire was confined to the affected structure, thereby preventing it from spreading to adjacent buildings. No injuries or casualties were reported in the incident.
The operation was supervised by senior officials of the Fire and Emergency Services Department. The cause of the fire remains unknown, and an investigation has been initiated.
Meanwhile, Director General, Fire and Emergency Services, Alok Kumar (IPS), has advised residents of Srinagar to exercise caution while using electrical appliances, particularly during peak morning and evening hours, to reduce the risk of fire incidents.
