Srinagar, Dec 22: In a major boost to renal healthcare in Jammu and Kashmir, Paras Health Srinagar has doubled the capacity of its dialysis unit with the installation of 11 new dialysis machines. With this expansion, the hospital can now conduct up to 60 dialysis sessions per day, ensuring faster access, shorter wait times, and uninterrupted care for patients who depend on routine dialysis.
The upgrade comes at a critical time, as chronic kidney disease (CKD) cases continue to rise across Srinagar and neighbouring districts. The hospital has already performed more than 8,000 dialysis sessions, reflecting the growing demand for dependable renal support in the region. The expanded unit will ease pressure on patients who often face travel constraints and limited availability at existing facilities, said a press release.
Speaking about the development, Dr Murtuza Habib, Facility Director, Paras Health Srinagar said, “The need for dialysis in the Valley has grown considerably, and many centres have been operating at full capacity. By doubling our unit, we are directly addressing this gap and ensuring that patients receive timely care without disruption. This expansion strengthens the renal care framework in the region and allows patients to access high-quality treatment within Srinagar itself.”
Adding to this, Dr Aadil Beigh, Director – Nephrology, said, “For individuals on maintenance dialysis, regularity is essential. Even a single delayed session can disturb fluid balance, strain the heart, and trigger avoidable medical complications. With a larger facility, we can manage patient flow more efficiently, respond swiftly to urgent cases, and provide a more stable and predictable treatment environment for those requiring long-term dialysis.” Equipped with advanced dialysis technology, improved infection-control measures, and a specialised team of nephrologists and technicians, the expanded unit reinforces Paras Health Srinagar’s role as a key provider of renal care in the Valley. The development aligns with Paras Health’s commitment to delivering reliable, high-quality treatment and improving long-term outcomes for patients with chronic kidney disease.
