SRINAGAR: The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Jammu and Kashmir, has apprehended the owner of a Delhi-based pharmaceutical firm in connection with multiple cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, officials said.

ANTF Nabs Delhi-Based Pharma Firm Owner Jatish Babbar in Multiple NDPS Cases

The accused, identified as Jatish Babbar, son of Harish Babbar and a resident of South Delhi, owns Sakshi Pharma. He is already named in three NDPS cases registered at Police Station ANTF, Jammu — FIR No. 45/2020, FIR No. 04/2021 and FIR No. 06/2021 — all registered under Sections 8, 21, 22 and 29 of the NDPS Act.

Officials said preliminary investigation indicates that the accused was involved in the illegal procurement and supply of psychotropic substances, allegedly misusing his position as a pharmaceutical firm owner. His role is believed to be significant in a wider inter-state drug trafficking network, and further investigation is underway to trace both forward and backward linkages.

The accused was tracked through technical surveillance and arrested by a team of ANTF Jammu under the direct supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police, ANTF, Anwar-ul-Haq, from Delhi.

Officials described the arrest as a major breakthrough in ANTF JK’s ongoing crackdown on drug mafias operating under the cover of pharmaceutical businesses. They said more arrests and recoveries are likely as the investigation progresses.

Reiterating its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking, ANTF JK appealed to the public to cooperate with the agency and share any information related to drug abuse or trafficking.
