Family of soldier killed in Kupwara LoC blast distraught

Rajouri, Dec 16: A pall of gloom descended on the family in Rattal-Chowdhary Nar village of Rajouri after it received the news that its 40-year-old son, a serving army soldier, lost his life in an explosion incident on Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara district on Tuesday.

Identified as Zubair Ahmed, son of Mohammad Akram resident of Rattal Chowdhary Nar, the soldier was recently promoted to the rank of Naib Subedar in the army and was presently deployed on LoC in Kupwara.

“We yesterday evening received a news from his parent unit that some incident happened on LoC in which my elder brother sustained injuries. Today morning he succumbed,” said the younger brother of the deceased army soldier.

He further stated that Zubair had been serving in the Indian Army for the last 23 years. He was very dedicated to his duties.

He is survived by an aged mother, wife and three children.

Thousands of people from the area are visiting the house of the army soldier expressing their condolences.
