Special Magistrate checking at Jammu Railway Station

Jammu, Dec 14: A special checking drive was conducted by a magistrate along with ticket checking staff at Jammu Railway Station on December 13 to ensure passenger convenience and smooth adherence to railway rules.

Trains on both the up and down lines were checked during this drive.

“Jammu Division of Northern Railway, under the guidance of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Uchit Singhal, continuously conducts various campaigns to provide better facilities to all its passengers, including ensuring quality food and water, and to curb ticketless and irregular travel,” said Raghvender Singh, Public Relations Inspector of Jammu Railway Division.

He said that in line with those efforts, a special checking drive was conducted at Jammu Railway Station on December 13.

“The team, constituted by the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, including the Assistant Commercial Manager, Chief Ticket Inspector, and other checking staff, also participated in this Magistrate checking. Members of the Railway Protection Force and Government Railway Police were also present,” Singh said.

He informed that during this drive, a total of 50 cases involving ticketless travel, illegal vendors, and littering were registered, and a fine of approximately Rs 25,000 was imposed by the Magistrate.

Regarding the Magistrate checking conducted in the division, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Uchit Singhal, said, “The main objective of this campaign is to identify ticketless passengers on trains and at stations, curb illegal vending, and educate passengers about their rights and rules. A special team was also formed by the Commercial Department for this purpose.” He further added that during the Magistrate checking, fines were imposed on the spot without any delay to create awareness among the public.
