SRINAGAR: Police in south Kashmir’s Shopian district have seized a large number of vehicles found operating without the mandatory transfer of ownership.
Acting on the directions of the Senior Superintendent of Police, dedicated teams were deployed at several locations to identify vehicles still registered under previous owners despite being sold. Officials said numerous vehicles were impounded during the drive, with legal action initiated under the relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
Police have advised vehicle owners to complete ownership transfer formalities promptly after any sale or purchase to avoid penalties. Authorities added that similar enforcement drives will continue in the coming days as part of efforts to ensure road safety, accountability and compliance with traffic regulations across the district.
