SRINAGAR: Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) has raised serious concern over the latest Accounts Assistant recruitment notification issued by the Jammu Kashmir Services Selection Board, saying the drastic reduction in Open Merit posts has triggered widespread anxiety among aspirants.

According to the advertisement issued on November 24, a total of 600 Finance Department posts have been announced, of which 240 are allotted to the Open Merit category while 360 fall under various reserved categories. Many aspirants said the current distribution does not reflect balanced access to opportunities and weakens the principle of equal competition.

Dr Mohammad Momin Khan of FAIMA Doctors Association urged the Chief Minister to intervene, saying Open Merit forms the backbone of a fair recruitment system. “Dilution of Open Merit erodes trust, impacts true meritocracy and raises questions about the integrity of the recruitment process,” he said.

He also questioned the delay in the government’s sub committee report on recruitment and reservation reforms, saying the report has not been made public despite assurances given earlier. Aspirants across Jammu and Kashmir echoed similar concerns, seeking transparency in recruitment policy and a clear explanation for the reduction of Open Merit seats.

They appealed to the administration to review the distribution and ensure a recruitment framework that inspires confidence and protects the interests of all candidates. [KNT]
