SRINAGAR: The Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Kashmir on Monday attached a double-storey under-construction residential house valued at over Rs 44 lakh, belonging to an alleged drug peddler in Budgam district of central Kashmir, officials said.

The property, owned by Rouf Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Majeed Bhat and resident of Churumujru Beerwah, was attached under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, 1985 in the presence of officials from the Revenue Department, along with the local Lambardar and Chowkidar.

According to an ANTF spokesperson, the attachment followed a financial investigation conducted under Section 68-E of the NDPS Act in connection with FIR No. 02/2024 registered under Sections 8/15 NDPS Act at Police Station ANTF Kashmir. The probe revealed that the house had been acquired through proceeds of illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.

The accused, currently lodged in Central Jail Srinagar, was earlier arrested in connection with the same case.

Officials said the action underscores ANTF Kashmir’s sustained efforts to dismantle networks involved in the narcotics trade and to confiscate properties acquired through illegal drug proceeds.

The initiative has been widely appreciated by the local community, which hailed the agency’s firm stance against the drug menace in the Valley.
