
Budgam: Campaigning for the 27-Budgam Assembly Constituency bye-election concluded on Saturday evening, ushering in the mandatory silence period across the district ahead of polling.
In view of the upcoming elections, District Magistrate and District Election Officer, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat (IAS), has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNSS) across Budgam district. The restrictions will remain in force from 6:00 pm on November 9 to 6:00 pm on November 11, coinciding with the polling schedule.
The order, aimed at ensuring a peaceful and transparent electoral process, also prohibits unlawful assemblies or gatherings under Section 189 of the BNSS. During this period, no person or organization will be permitted to hold, attend, or address public meetings, rallies, or processions related to the elections.
Authorities have urged political parties, candidates, and the public to adhere strictly to the directives to maintain law and order and uphold the integrity of the democratic process.
