SRINAGAR: Kashmir Valley endured harsh cold as a persistent cold wave swept across the region, with most areas recording the season’s coldest night. Pahalgam registered a minimum temperature of -3.0°C, the Meteorological Department said.
Gulmarg, the popular ski resort, registered a low of -2.6°C, while Kupwara recorded -1.3°C, signalling the arrival of the region’s harsh winter conditions.
Forecasters warned that temperatures are likely to remain near or below freezing in several parts of the valley over the coming days, urging residents to take necessary precautions, especially the elderly and children.
Authorities also cautioned motorists about icy road conditions, particularly in higher altitude areas, and recommended using anti-skid measures and warm clothing while travelling.
The Meteorological Department has urged the public to stay updated with daily weather bulletins and be prepared for further drops in temperature as cold winds sweep across the valley.
