
SRINAGAR: The Jammu Kashmir State Centre of the Institution of Engineers (India) held its 60th Annual General Meeting (AGM) today at the Institution’s Auditorium, Church Lane, Sonwarbagh, Srinagar.
The meeting witnessed the participation of distinguished corporate members, including outgoing and incoming members of the Executive Committee. It commenced with opening remarks by Dr. Jahangeer Ali, Honorary Secretary, followed by the welcome address and declaration of election results by Er. Iftikhar Ahmad Hakim, Chairman, JK State Centre. The Annual Report for 2024–25, along with audited financial statements, was formally presented, and auditors were appointed in line with the Institution’s Charter and Bye-laws.
A key highlight of the AGM was the handover and takeover ceremony of the Executive Committee for the 2025–27 session. Er. Ferdous Ahad Bhat, FIE, and Er. Irfan Ahmad Reshi, MIE, assumed charge as Chairman and Honorary Secretary, respectively. The outgoing Chairman Er. Iftikhar Ahmad Hakim and Honorary Secretary Dr. Jahangeer Ali were felicitated for their dedicated service.
The newly constituted Executive Committee includes members from various engineering branches, such as Civil, Mechanical, Production, Electronics and Telecommunication, Electrical, and Computer Engineering, reflecting a diverse and interdisciplinary leadership team.
In his address, Chairman Er. Ferdous Ahad Bhat, the youngest in the Centre’s history, expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and committed to advancing the institution’s objectives through professional collaboration, innovation, and public engagement. Honorary Secretary Er. Irfan Ahmad Reshi emphasised enhancing interdisciplinary participation and expanding outreach to young engineers and academic institutions.
The AGM concluded with a felicitation ceremony for outgoing office bearers and a vote of thanks by Dr. Jahangeer Ali, followed by informal interactions over tea.
Er. Ferdous Ahad Bhat, an M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, currently serves as Assistant Executive Engineer (Mechanical), while Er. Irfan Ahmad Reshi serves as Assistant Executive Engineer (Civil). The event highlighted IEI JK State Centre’s ongoing commitment to professional excellence and leadership development in the engineering community.
