Resolution Seeking One-time Waiver of Power Tariff Dues Admitted in J&K Assembly – Alfaaz – The Words

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Secretariat has admitted a private member’s resolution moved by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) MLA Mir Mohammad Fayaz, proposing a one-time exemption of outstanding electricity tariff dues for domestic consumers across the Union Territory.

The resolution, as per a communication issued by Legislative Assembly Secretariat, has been admitted under Rule 179 read with Rule 28 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the J&K Legislative Assembly.

The communication further stated that the balloting process for Private Members’ Resolutions will take place on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at 4:00 PM in the office chambers of the Secretary Assembly.

The notice, signed by Under Secretary Shabir Ahmad Wani, has requested MLA Mir Mohammad Fayaz to be present during the balloting process.

The resolution, if taken up, seeks to provide substantial relief to domestic electricity consumers struggling with accumulated power dues in various districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
