SRINAGAR: The Delhi Public School Model United Nations (DPSMUN) 2025 concluded successfully on October 19 after two days of rigorous debate, diplomacy, and deliberation. The annual conference, hosted by Delhi Public School, Srinagar, drew over 200 delegates from schools across the valley, reaffirming the school’s commitment to nurturing global awareness and leadership among students.

Model United Nations (MUN) is a simulation of the United Nations that allows students to assume the roles of diplomats and engage in dialogue on global and regional challenges. It enables young minds to develop skills in research, communication, and negotiation while fostering a sense of responsibility in addressing real-world issues.

This year’s edition of DPSMUN featured six committees — the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (UNCSW), International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), Lok Sabha, Jammu and Kashmir Political Parties Meet (JKPPM), and the AI Advisory Board. Delegates debated issues ranging from human rights and gender equality to artificial intelligence governance and local political discourse, showcasing remarkable insight and analytical depth.

Over the two days, the event witnessed animated discussions, persuasive arguments, and moments of collaboration that reflected the spirit of international diplomacy. Under the guidance of an experienced Executive Board and a committed Secretariat, the conference recreated an atmosphere of global negotiation and consensus-building.

The closing ceremony celebrated the achievements of participants, with awards conferred upon Best Delegates, High Commendations, and Special Mentions across all committees. The Executive Board and Secretariat members were also recognised for their leadership and dedication to the event’s success.

Principal Shafaq Afshan commended the students for their enthusiasm and professionalism, describing DPSMUN as “a cornerstone of holistic education that cultivates critical thinking, empathy, and confidence among learners.” Academic In-Charge (Senior Wing) Arusa Rasool praised the Secretariat and Organising Committee for their meticulous coordination and commitment in hosting an event of such scale and quality.

Chairman Vijay Dhar lauded the initiative, remarking, “Platforms like DPSMUN empower young minds to engage meaningfully with the world’s most pressing challenges and envision solutions rooted in empathy and understanding. I commend the school community for sustaining this remarkable legacy — a space where intellect truly meets purpose.”

With its blend of intellect, collaboration, and youthful energy, DPSMUN 2025 stood as a shining example of student-led excellence and Delhi Public School Srinagar’s continuing effort to shape informed, responsible, and globally conscious citizens.
