
Rajouri, Dec 12: For strict enforcement of tenant verification guidelines across the district, Police have taken action in Manjakote, Kandi and Nowshera after detecting violations of the standing orders issued by the District Magistrate Rajouri.
Police have registered nine cases in three police stations as property owners were found violating necessary tenant verification.
As per an official statement, in Police Station Manjakote, an information was received that two individuals had rented out rooms to persons from outside the Union Territory without completing mandatory tenant verification.
For this violation, three cases were registered against owners in FIR Number 110/2025 and FIR Number 111/2025.
Similarly, in Police Station Nowshera, acting on reliable information, police teams found that three shop owners had rented out their premises for stay to individuals from outside J&K without conducting compulsory tenant verification, in violation of DM Rajouri’s orders.
Accordingly, three FIRs were registered viz., FIR Numbers 186/2025 U/S 223 BNS, 187/2025 U/S 223 BNS and 188/2025 U/S 223 BNS.
Police appealed to all landlords, property owners, and shopkeepers in Rajouri to ensure strict compliance with tenant verification norms and cooperate with Police to maintain public safety and prevent misuse of rented premises.
Four FIRs were registered at Police Station Kandi also for violation of District Magistrate orders for mandatory tenant verification and misuse of VPN services U/S 223 BNS.
These cases have been registered under FIR Numbers 163/2025, 164/2025, 165/2025 and 168/2025.
“General public particularly landlords are requested to strictly adhere to the standing orders of the District Magistrate Rajouri regarding mandatory tenant verification before renting out any premises. Non-compliance shall invite legal action as per law,” Police warned.
