6064 pilgrims embark on Amarnath Yatra from Jammu

Jammu, Jul 16: 15th batch of 6064 pilgrims Wednesday left Yatri Niwas – Jammu based camp at Bhagwati Nagar for holy cave shrine of Shri Amarnath in South Kashmir Himalayas in heavy security. As per officials, the fresh batch of 4422 males, 1511 females, 16 children, 102 Sadhus and 13 Sadhvis departed from Jammu base camp in a convoy of 234 vehicles, including 120 buses and 75 Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) for twin routes of Pahalgam and Baltal. 3593 pilgrims, comprising 2834 males, 671 females, 4 children, 72 Sadhus and 12 Sadhvis left for the Pahalgam axis at 4.07 am in a cavalcade of 139 vehicles, including 73 buses and 33 LMVs.

2471 Yatris, including 1588 males, 840 females, 12 children, 30 Sadhus and 1 Sadhvi opted to embark on Yatra from Baltal axis.

They left in a cavalcade of 95 vehicles, including 47 buses and 42 LMVs at 3.30 am. Yatra, which formally commenced on July 3, 2025 from both Pahalgam and Baltal routes, will conclude on August 9, 2025. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha flagged off the first batch of pilgrims from Bhagwati Nagar base camp on July 2.
