
Srinagar: A 55-year-old man lost his life on Sunday after falling from a walnut tree in Muqami Shahwali, Drugmulla area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
The deceased has been identified as Mohd Akbar Mir, son of Ghulam Nabi Mir, a resident of Muqami Shahwali. Witnesses said Mir was engaged in walnut harvesting when he slipped and fell from a considerable height, sustaining grievous injuries.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital by locals, however succumbed en route.
A medical official at SDH Kupwara has also confirmed to Alfaaz – The Words that the individual was brought dead on arrival.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated necessary proceedings.
