
Srinagar: An earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale struck the Afghanistan–Tajikistan border region on Friday evening, with tremors across several parts of Jammu and Kashmir. According to the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), the quake occurred at around 5:45 p.m. with its epicentre located at latitude 36.62°N and longitude 72.72°E, at a shallow depth of 10 kilometres. There have been no immediate reports of casualties or damage to property from any part of the region.
