Jammu, Feb 16: Three inmates, including two Pakistani nationals, escaped from the Juvenile Observation Home in R.S. Pura on Monday evening after allegedly attacking police personnel on duty.
According to police, the incident took place at around 5:05 pm when the inmates attacked and injured two policemen deployed at the facility before fleeing from custody.
The escaped inmates have been identified as Ahsan Anwar, a resident of Nankana Sahib in Pakistan; Mohammad Sanaullah, a resident of Muzaffarabad, Pakistan; and Karanjit Singh alias Gugga, a resident of Dablehar in R.S. Pura.
During the incident, SPO Vinay Kumar and Head Constable Parveen Kumar were injured and were given medical treatment.
Police have started an investigation into the matter. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed, and raids are being carried out at several locations to trace and arrest the escaped inmates.
Officials said a massive search operation is underway, and further details are awaited.
