Rajouri, Aug 6: A truck accident on the dilapidated Gadyog–Khawas road in Rajouri district has reignited public anger over a decades-long delay in completing the critical road project.
Locals say the 25-year wait for proper infrastructure has turned the route into a daily hazard, specially during the monsoon season, and are now demanding immediate government action to avert further tragedies.
Notably, a road accident occurred on the Gadyog village to Khawas tehsil road in Rajouri district after a sand-laden truck skidded off the road due to soil caving in, triggered by persistent heavy rainfall in the area.
According to locals, the road project was initiated nearly 25 years ago and continues to remain incomplete even after over two decades.
Angry residents expressed serious concern over the continuous delays, alleging official apathy and administrative neglect.
“The road has been in the same condition for the last 25 years. Every day, accidents happen here. How many more lives will it take for authorities to act,” said Ashok Kumar, with others echoing similar concern.
The incomplete and vulnerable road stretch is said to have become even more dangerous during the rainy season, with softened soil increasing the risk of landslides and skidding vehicles.
“We appeal to MLA Budhal Javed Iqbal Choudhary to intervene in the matter and resolve the issue,” locals said.
