Jammu, Jan 18: Two Wushu players from Jammu and Kashmir—Asian Games bronze medallist Bhanu Partap Singh and Ansa Chisti, India’s No. 1 ranked player in the women’s 52 kg category—have been selected for the Indian Wushu Team’s foreign exposure training camp in China ahead of the Asian Games 2026, officials said.

The foreign exposure training programme in China, as per an official J&K Sports Council statement, starts from January 14 to February 12, 2026, as part of preparations for the Asian Games 2026.

The selection was made following the National Ranking Tournament held at Jammu, where the Wushu Association of India shortlisted the top eight athletes across 13 events. Notably, 12 athletes from Jammu & Kashmir featured among the top eight rankings, reflecting the sustained efforts of the Government of J&K, the J&K Sports Council, and the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports in promoting high-performance Wushu in the Union Territory.

The Sports Authority of India, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, has sanctioned a 23-member Indian contingent for the China exposure programme. The Asian Games 2026 are scheduled to be held in Japan from September 19 to October 4.
