2 balloons with ‘US, Pak currency’ recovered in Akhnoor

Jammu, Feb 23: Police recovered two balloons with some “Pakistani and US currency” affixed to them, in village Gunara in Khour area of Akhnoor in Jammu district on Monday.

According to Police, the balloons also had a Pakistani mobile phone number and a QR code.

“Two balloons with a Pakistani mobile phone number and a picture of a scanner (QR Code) were found in village Gunara, Nili nallah, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Khour Police Station in Akhnoor. The balloon also contained some Pakistani and US currency. The balloons and other material have been seized,” Police said.

In a separate incident, the Police seized a drone recovered on the lawns of a private school in Domana area in Jammu outskirts and sent for forensic examination. The security guard of the school informed the Police about the drone.

“It seems to be a toy drone, however, the investigation is underway,” officials said.

Meanwhile, in yet another incident, the Police sounded high alert and a manhunt was launched to apprehend the four unidentified persons who waylaid a private car on way to Jammu from Punjab near Rakh Barotian in Samba district late Sunday night and fled in it towards Ring Road Jammu.

The car owner identified as Ravi Kumar of Dina Nagar informed the Police about the incident, following which a case was registered and search was launched.

Meanwhile, the Police, late Monday evening,  recovered the car (Ertiga) bearing registration number PB01E-6042, snatched from Vijaypur during the intervening night of February 22 and 23, 2026 from Kanachak, in a joint operation by Jammu (Rural) Police and the Samba Police.
