2 arrested in Ramsoo theft case, stolen cash recovered

Ramban, Feb 22: Police have solved a theft case in Ramsoo area of Ramban district by arresting two accused persons and recovering stolen cash within 72 hours of the incident, officials said on Sunday.

According to official sources, the case was registered vide FIR No. 08/2026 under Section 303 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) on February 17, 2026. The complaint was filed by Mohd Muzaffar, a resident of Batibhass, who reported that unidentified thieves had broken a window pane of his shop and decamped with cash amounting to approximately 70,000–75,000.

The investigation was conducted by PSI Prince Jasrotia, the Investigating Officer of the case. During the course of investigation, the police relied on scientific evidence and analysis of legacy data to identify the suspects.

Subsequently, two accused Shabir Ahmed, son of Abdul Sattar, resident of Shagan, Khari, and Mubaraq Ahmed, son of Abdul Hamid, resident of Koot, Khari were apprehended and arrested.

On the disclosure made by the accused during interrogation, stolen cash amounting to 70,800 was recovered. The recovery was affected within 72 hours of the registration of the FIR.

The recovered cash has been seized following due legal procedure, and further investigation in the case is underway.
