19-Year-Old Drowns in Dal Lake After Boat Overturns | Kashmir Life

SRINAGAR: A 19-year-old man drowned in Srinagar’s Dal Lake on Saturday after the shikara he was sitting in overturned while he was attempting to take a selfie, officials said.

The deceased has been identified as Layaqat Ahmed Poswal, a resident of Daradpora Kralpora in Kupwara district.

According to officials, the incident occurred when the boat suddenly capsized, causing him to fall into the lake.

Local residents quickly pulled him out of the water and rushed him to Khyber Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Authorities have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated further proceedings, officials added. (KNC)
