Jammu, Jul 28: The 26th batch of 1635 yatris on Monday left the Yatri Niwas, the Jammu base camp at Bhagwati Nagar, to undertake yatra through twin traditional routes of Pahalgam and Baltal to Amarnath Cave shrine, nestled in the south Kashmir Himalayas.
Officials said that the yatris, comprising 1303 men, 286 women, four children, 32 Sadhus, and 10 Sadhvis, departed from Jammu base camp for Kashmir in a heavily guarded convoy of 59 vehicles, including 45 buses and 11 Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs).
A total of 1261 yatris, including 1016 men, 203 women, 32 Sadhus, and 10 Sadhvis, who opted for the Pahalgam route, departed in a cavalcade of 42 vehicles, 34 buses, and seven LMVs at 4 am.
A total of 374 yatris, including 287 men, 83 women, and four children, chose to embark on yatra through the Baltal route.
They left the Yatri Niwas in a convoy of 17 vehicles, including 11 buses and four LMVs, at 3:25 am.
The annual yatra, which formally commenced on July 3, 2025, will conclude on August 9, 2025.
