
SRINAGAR: Fourteen scientists from the University of Kashmir (KU) have featured in the prestigious Stanford University Rankings 2025, placing them among the world’s top researchers for their impactful contributions to global academia.
The list includes Adil Gani (Food Technology), Manzoor Ahmad Mir (Bioresources), Idrees Ahmad Wani (Food Technology), Farooq Ahmad Masoodi (Food Technology), Mudasir Ahmad (Computer Science), Shakeel Ahmad Romshoo (Earth Sciences), Faheem Arjamend Sheikh (Nanotechnology), Shabir Ahmad Parah (Electronics), Ghulam Jeelani (Earth Sciences), Firdous Ahmad Shah (Mathematics), Arshid Bashir (Chemistry), Lateef Ahmad Malik (Chemistry), Shariefuddin Pirzada (Mathematics), and Reyaz Hassan Mir (Pharmaceutical Sciences).
Among them, Dr. Adil Gani has achieved global distinction by being recognised in the career-long impact category, placing him in the top 1 per cent of scientists worldwide. He is the only KU scientist to secure this honour in 2025.
Vice-Chancellor KU, Prof Nilofer Khan, congratulated the faculty, calling the achievement a source of immense pride for the academic community. She said the recognition underscored the dedication, intellectual rigour, and global relevance of KU’s research.
Dean Academic Affairs, Prof Shariefuddin Pirzada, said the achievement reflects the university’s consistent quality of scholarship, while Dean Research, Prof Mohammad Sultan Bhat, noted it highlights KU’s vibrant research culture. Registrar KU, Prof Naseer Iqbal, described the recognition as both an honour and a responsibility, reaffirming KU’s position as a centre of academic excellence.
The Stanford University Rankings, prepared annually by experts led by Prof John PA Ioannidis, evaluate over 1,80,000 researchers globally on the basis of standardised citation indicators including citations, h-index, co-authorship patterns, and composite scores.
