Ganderbal: In a major breakthrough in its ongoing crackdown against absconders, the Jammu and Kashmir Police in Ganderbal have arrested two fugitives who had been evading arrest for over 13 years.

The duo, identified as Mudasir Ahmad War, son of Nazir Ahmad War of Batpora Sopore, and Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, son of Ali Mohammad Wani of Lolpora Kunzar Tangmarg, were wanted in connection with FIR No. 34/2013 under sections 392, 511, 34 RPC and FIR No. 17/2013 under sections 366, 109 RPC.

Acting on specific directions from SSP Ganderbal, Khalil Ahmad Poswal, a special police team led by SHO Safapora, SI Gulzar Hussain, conducted sustained investigations and intelligence-based tracking, ultimately locating the accused in Bengaluru (Karnataka) and Maharashtra, where they were subsequently arrested.

Police said the arrests mark the culmination of a long pursuit and reinforce the message that “no offender can remain beyond the reach of law.” The success of the operation, they added, highlights the department’s commitment to ensuring justice and accountability, regardless of the time elapsed.

The Ganderbal Police have reaffirmed their resolve to continue the pursuit of all absconders and bring them before the law in the interest of justice, peace, and public safety.
