Leh June 01: Principal Sessions Judge (Special Judge) Leh Manoj Parihar convicted one person for recovery of 8kg and 190g Charas.
According to judgement in a major break through in one of the biggest Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropics Substances (NDPS) cases, the Principal Sessions Judge (Special Judge) Leh on saturday convicted the accused Dhoni Chand S/O Chittar Dev R/O Ching Grain, Ward No.2 Tehsil Kullu, Himachal Pradesh for his involvement in recovery of 8kg and 190gms of Charas from his vehicle Bolero.
According to the prosecution, led by Sh. Nawang Nurbu Assistant Public Prosecutor Leh, Police led by the then SHO Inspector Stanzin Dorjey on the bases of specific and reliable input, intercepted the accused with his Bolero car while coming from Manali towards Leh and recovered huge quantity of Charas (8kg 190grams).
As per judgement accused was sentenced to 12 years of rigorous imprisonment for the charged section, with the fine of Rs. 1 lakh, while failure to pay the fine will attract an additional 6 months imprisonment.
The judgement, delivered by Principal Sessions Judge Leh (Special Judge) reflects a stern stance against the criminals involve in (NDPS) cases and is seen as a massage against drugs menace in the society.
