SRINAGAR: The Chief Minister on Wednesday congratulated the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) for bringing 83 additional areas of Srinagar under 24-hour electricity supply after a Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) trial was completed without a single power cut.

With the latest inclusion, 108 areas across the city are now receiving round-the-clock, uninterrupted power, benefiting nearly 1.25 lakh households and covering about 48 per cent of Srinagar, according to official figures.

The Chief Minister shared the update in a post on X, terming the development a significant step towards ensuring reliable and quality power supply for residents of the summer capital.

Officials said the achievement was the outcome of sustained infrastructure upgrades and system strengthening under the RDSS, which focuses on reducing outages, improving efficiency and enhancing consumer services.

They added that similar power distribution upgrades are being implemented in other districts of the Union Territory as part of a phased plan to extend 24×7 electricity supply across Jammu and Kashmir.
